Residents have their say on the state of public healthcare in SA

JACK BLOOM: The quality of public health care is very mixed. It is much worse in rural areas but urban hospitals also have problems. We still have some top class surgeons but there are long waiting lists for operations and follow-up care may not be good. Poor management, staff shortages and corruption are to blame for much of the failure in health care.

In light of the recent outbreak of typhoid fever that has hit the nation and the death of a woman who was found in a bathtub with severe burns in Helen Joseph Hospital, the North Eastern Tribune asked local residents what they feel about the state of public healthcare.
