3 012 knitted squares handed over by Rand Aid for Mandela Day

Jean Johnson from Elphin Lodge; Priscilla Randall from Thornhill Manor; chairperson of Thornhill Knitting Club, Joan Hepburn; Marinda Looyen from Inyoni Creek; Kevin Friedman from 67 Blankets for Mandela Day; Maisie Walters from Thornhill Manor; and Kate Rivers from 67 Blankets for Mandela Day with the impressive Rand Aid donation.

An impressive 3012 knitted squares were handed over to Kevin Friedman of 67 Blankets for Mandela Day on 24 July.

The squares were knitted as part of the Rand Aid Association’s inter-complex Mandela Day Knit-a-thon.

The association hosted a knit-a-thon event to see which of the association’s complexes could knit the most squares.

Before competition day, the residents of Thornhill Manor Retirement Village secured the inevitable win by knitting 2 631 squares.Details: www.67blankets.co.za
