Orange Corners to bring Dutch and SA entrepreneurs together

Orange Corners is set to host entrepreneurs at a workshop in Maboneng, Braamfontein and Diepsloot.

The focus on growing entrepreneurship continues with the announcement of the launch of the Orange Corners initiative in South Africa, taking place next week.

The launch of the initiative, started by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will take place on 15 September in Maboneng and be a platform for entrepreneurs to learn, grow their businesses, expand their professional networks and stimulate their creativity.

This will be achieved through providing training, business mentorship and fostering strategic connections between South African and Dutch businesses.

Dutch Ambassador to South Africa, Marisa Gerards, explained the aim behind launching the entrepreneurship initiative in the country. “Our mission is to establish an innovative support system for entrepreneurs and to truly partner with them in their business journeys,” she said.

“A key element of the initiative is to link companies, individuals and knowledge institutes from SA and the Netherlands with each other, thereby not only combining our separate expertise for joint solutions but also strengthening the relationship between South Africa and the Netherlands.” Garards added that the aim was also to contribute to the country’s economic growth by creating an environment for local entrepreneurship to thrive and, in doing so, provide a place to access a network of like-minded individuals for Dutch entrepreneurs.

Two other launches are set to take place in Braamfontein and Diepsloot.

The Orange Corners initiative was developed in partnership with companies such as Shell, Heineken, Vopak, the University of the Witwatersrand, Seed Academy and KPMG, among others, and will see approximately 45 entrepreneurs selected to take part in the Orange Corners programme in the first year.

These entrepreneurs will also have access to collaborative workplaces at a reduced cost and receive intensive training and business mentorship.
