Young man dies in alleged mob justice incident in Lombardy West

The Sandringham police are currently investigating the murder of a young man in Lombardy West in a case of alleged mob justice on 1 April.

The spokesperson for the station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo, said the young man’s half-naked body was found on Birmingham Road with a tyre around his body. He added that the victim, estimated to be between 19 and 24 years old, was still alive when the police arrived. He was rushed to the nearest medical facility for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.

Mamabolo said that according to a local community member the young man was allegedly involved in a house breaking and cellphone robbery earlier in the week, but none of these allegations has been proven.
