Sandringham police officers are searching for the family members of a man who was found dead on 11 June in a veld opposite Edenvale Hospital.

The deceased, according to the police, is aged between 25 and 35.

Spokesperson for Sandringham Police Station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said the deceased was discovered by a pedestrian who alerted the police.

“It is alleged that on the day, a pedestrian spotted a person lying naked in the veld on the corner of Kerry and Modderfontein roads in Rembrandt Park opposite Edenvale Hospital,” said Mamabolo.
“Upon investigation, [police officers] found an unknown male lying motionless.”

The police then called emergency personnel who, upon arrival and after inspecting the body, certified the man dead.

Mamabolo said the deceased had multiple injuries on his head.
“No clothing was found on the scene and no one has come forward to identify him.”

No arrests have been made as yet. “A case of murder has been opened at Sandringham Police Station.”

Police are calling on the community to assist with any information that could lead to the identification of the victim as well as the arrest of the suspects.
