Yeoville police officers investigate the alleged murder of a pensioner who was found dead in his Alex residence

Yeoville police are investigating a case of murder of a 67-year-old man.


A pensioner (67) was recently found dead in his home in Alexander Street in Saunders, Yeoville.

Joseph Taylor was found dead in a pool of blood in the early hours of 19 June by his live-in partner.

According to a police report, the partner woke up to discover that Taylor was not in bed.

According to the spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela, the partner could not locate him.

“She told us she went around the house checking and discovered that the electricity was also out. She continued searching for him and then found Taylor lying on the floor and there was a lot of blood around him,” said Mabizela.

She alerted police and then opened a case of murder. “And an investigation is still continuing and the police are on a manhunt for the suspect. One suspect has been brought in for questioning but no arrest has been made.”

The police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the case to contact the investigating officer, Constable Lufuno Sono.
