Lyndhurst businessman warns parents to be on the lookout for a kidnapper who targets schoolchildren

Mike Fudhu Olongo says his daughter was nearly kidnapped from Maryvale College in June.

A Lyndhurst businessman warned parents to be vigilant because a kidnapper, who targets schoolchildren, is frequenting the eastern suburbs of Joburg.

This comes after his daughter, who is in Grade 4 at Maryvale College, recently escaped being kidnapped after school.

The businessman, Mike Fudhu Olongo, said the kidnapper might have targeted him through his 10-year-old daughter and that is the reason he warns other parents to be cautious.

He said the kidnapper posed as his wife when he came to the school driving a car similar to her car.

“My wife usually pick them up after school and when they noticed the car, my daughter rushed to fetch her eight-year-old sister but she wasted time as she first wanted to use the toilet,” said Fudhu Olongo.

“She then went to the car and entered inside without noticing that it was not her mother. Luckily, she soon realised that it was not her and she jumped out.”

She then screamed and shouted for help and the alleged kidnapper drove-off, he said.

The alleged kidnapper is said to drive a dark green Nissan Duke and according to the distraught father, he was wearing a mask as well.

“So she cannot say if it was a male or a female. We urge anyone who might have any information relating to this incident or who notices a car of that make to notify the authorities,” he said.
