Drive-by shooting in Orange Groove claims man’s life and injures another

Norwood police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder that took place in Orage Grove along Louis Botha Avenue.

 

Norwood police have launched a manhunt after one man was wounded and the other killed in what is believed to be a drive-by shooting.

According to the spokesperson for Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, the incident took place on 28 August in Orange Grove on Louis Botha Avenue.

Tshivhase said the deceased suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his head and the other was shot in his right hand.

“When our officers arrived on the scene they found the deceased lying motionless with four bullet cartridges next to the body,” said Tshivhase.

“The other victim was taken to the nearby surgery for medical assistance before he was taken to Edenvale Hospital.”

Police said three occupants driving a white Toyota Hilux were involved.

“Our investigation indicates that the Toyota Hilux came and stopped in front of the two victims and one of the occupants started to [allegedly] shoot at the two victims.

“The motive is not yet known but our officers are following every lead.”

No arrests has been made as yet but police are investigating the matter.

Tshivhase said anyone who might have information which could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators must contact police.
