Three suspects arrested for serious crimes in Joburg

Ammunition was confiscated from a female suspect who was on her way to board a bus to Malawi.

A female suspect was arrested by the Johannesburg Railway Police for possession of a variety of high calibre ammunition.

According to the spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station, Captain Xoli Mbele, the suspect was arrested at the Park Station Bus Terminus on 16 May by the police while doing a routine check. “The police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they saw a suspicious female carrying a heavy bag.

She was arrested and held at the Johannesburg Central Police Station and an investigation is currently underway. Mbele said the suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.

Meanwhile, another suspect has been arrested for attempted murder by the Johannesburg Central police following a road rage incident on the corner of Jeppe and Delvers streets. “The taxi driver pulled the driver out of his car and assaulted him with his hands,” explained Mbele.

“The driver of the Toyota Corolla drew his firearm and shot [towards the taxi driver but missed], hitting one of the hawkers selling clothes in the street,” said Mbele.

The shooter reported the incident. “The driver of the Toyota Corolla was arrested for attempted murder and his firearm confiscated,” he said.
