Police have opened a murder docket after an 18-year-old male was shot and killed on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Selbourne Street on the night of 21 July.
It is believed that the deceased was shot and killed by the suspect who happened to be his neighbour after a heated argument that led to the suspect pulling his gun and allegedly shooting him.
According to Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatjie, the young man’s body was found lying dead in the yard of Masakhane Clinic after he tried to rush for medical help.
“At about 10.30pm, the police received a call that alerted them to the body of a young man that lay in Masakhane Clinic’s yard. Upon arrival, it was indeed confirmed and the body was found with a bullet wound which entered through the nose,” Malatjie said.
In another incident, the occupants of a home on 6th Avenue were robbed of their valuables after a group of four armed men broke into their house while they were sleeping. One of the house occupants was shot in her thigh by one of the suspects who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend.
Malatjie said the suspects in both incidents are still on the run but the police are hot on their heels.
