The King Edward VII school pipe band came in second place at the South African Championships in Benoni.

Coming out of a superb first place victory at the regional championships on 14 July, the team travelled to Benoni High School to take part in the final competition on 28 July.

Spokesperson for the school Lisa Slooten said, “Superb result from these fine young men who have, this season, ignited our passion and pride. Their results have been outstanding with wonderful progression and growth shown at each gathering.”

Master in charge of the pipe band Matthew Dale said that it was not the result they wanted, but the entire pipe band is committed to coming back stronger next year.
